Your child’s key person will work with you child on a daily basis to support their developmental growth in line with the child’s personnel plan. The plan will be developed by the setting Senco, the parents and the key person to ensure all parties share the same goal. The Setting Senco will oversee, support and co-ordinate the care and provision for your child’s individual needs.

At Clock Tower House Pre-school the activities that are planned by the adults are aimed to achieve the learning objectives as detailed in the Early Young Foundation stage Framework. Each child is treated as individual and all activities are adapted to reflect the needs, interests and learning style of each child in order to support the child in achieving greater understanding and learning new skills.

The relationship between parents and the key person is of huge importance to the pre-school and the children. Strong relationships and good communication ensures that parent receive the full amount of support available and the sharing of information becomes a regular occurrences. We hold parent meetings twice a year. Should your child be receiving extra support you will be invited to join the key person and Senco every six weeks to discuss your child progress and plan for the next steps of your child personal plan. We will also be sending home a home link book each term within the book the key person will write down what you child has been doing at pre-school any wow moment and you will have the opportunity to write down what exciting things have been happening for your child at home.

Clock Tower House Pre-school provides a warm, welcoming and happy environment for children to feel safe and cared for. The staff nurture and support children helping to grow in confidence and become increasingly independent.

The setting has existing relationships with a number of outside agencies such as, Portage, Topps, Speech and Language Therapist, Educational Psychologist, our local children’s centre, Area Inco and Hampshire Services for Young Children.

The staff within the setting have experience with autism, ADHD and speech and language delay. The Senco and assistant Senco have both attended the Hampshire County Council’s official Senco training and the manager has attended speech and language support training. The staff have experience working with a number of children and agencies for various different needs.

>Clock Tower House Pre-school prides it’s self on how inclusive of all children the setting is we ensure all activities are adapted to enable all children access the same opportunities. When undertaking outings a risk assessment will carried out prior to the visit and the adult to child ratio changes to ensure all children are appropriately supervised. On occasion parent may be invited to join us on trips to ensure children’s safety.

The pre-school is set in a beautiful Victorian building that is listed this means that not all areas of the pre-school have wheel chair access. In the event of a family wishing to attend the setting we would review the accessibility to the building and all possible changes to facilitate the child would be made before the child begins to attend.

Transitions to school or new setting can be unsettling for children, we try to support the children in a number of way’s in which we liaise with the new environment arrange opportunities for the new school to visit the child within pre-school alongside the home visits the school usually undertake, Throughout the year we often visit with our local feeder school taking part in sports days, stories and visits. The parent are given the child learning journey and an end of term report that you are encouraged to share with the new school. For children who receive extra support a transition meeting is arranged to ensure the school can continue to support the child and the parents. The Senco, the key person and any other agency involved in the care of the child will attend.

Resources throughout the setting are allocated due to age and stage of development alongside the children individual interests. The children can access most resources at any point during the day. We do have a Senco bag that is used in small group or one to one time to support children with additional needs keeping the activities fun and enriching.

The parent and family are instrumental in the level of support the setting can offer, working together with the family, the key person, Senco and the area Inco the level of support we can offer your child could be quite extensive if needed. Monitoring and reviewing the level of support through observations and assessment to ensure the child makes developmental progress whilst attending the setting.

Understanding the importance of parental involvement in the setting to better influence the children’s outcomes we are always striving to work in partnership with parent and encourage parent to come into the setting to share skills, celebrate festivals and stay & play. We hold parent meetings regularly and invite parent to take home their learning journals. We always happy to welcome parent volunteers and appreciate any help offered.
