Home From Home is a cabin based child care setting in the beautiful village Wherwell. We believe children learn best through play and through managing their own risks in the great outdoors, offering support to achieve this when needed. The lead childminder has a degree in early years and over 7 years experience of working with young children. All staff have paediatric first aid and safeguarding training.
The aim is for all children to feel relaxed and safe, it is a Home from Home environment.

- How does the setting/school/college know if children/young people need extra help and what should I do if I think my child/young person may have special educational needs?
Main childminder has done introduction to Senco, behaviour courses and soon to do a level 2 autism course. 3 members of staff, we can offer support for all children to be included, activities can be adapted to meet all childrens needs.
- How will early years setting/school/college staff support my child/young person?
We will discuss with parents/carers prior to starting and make an IEP to support children to meet their targets. this will be reviews and adapted where needed.
- How will the curriculum be matched to my child's/young person's needs?
We can adapt activities, games, targets to ensure all children have access to all areas.
- How will both you and I know how my child/young person is doing and how will you help me to support my child's/young person's learning?
We will together put an IEP in place and have regular reviews. We aim to work in partnership with parents to support your child's learning and needs.
- What support will there be for my child's/young person's overall well being?
We like to do activities based around emotions and have little group sessions to talk about how we feel/ why and what we can do to make things feel better.
- What specialist services and expertise are available at or accessed by the setting/school/college?
Main childminder has a degree in early years, SEN Training.
- What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had? Are any being trained currently?
We are all awaiting to start an autism course and keep to continue to do courses to develop our knowledge and experiences.
- How will my child/young person be included in activities outside this classroom including school trips?
We can ensure all children will be included in all planned activities. If needed we will lower ratios on certain activities to ensure all children have an opportunity to be included.
- How accessible is the setting/school/college environment?
There is a slight slope into the garden area and a very small step in, although we would be more than happy to source a ramp if ever needed.
- How will the setting/school/college prepare and support my child/young person to join the setting/school/college or the next stage of education and life?
We will work on any pending transitions, this could include group talks, reading relevent books, support children and families to make it as smooth as possible.
- How are the setting's/school's/college's resources allocated and matched to children's/young people's special educational needs?
The resources are accessible to all. We have a selection of resources to suit younger children, children with sensory needs and we are looking to continually review and develop resources to support children needs/interests.
- How is the decision made about what type and how much support my child/young person will receive?
This will be looked at for each individual and after discussions with parents/carers and any other services/professionals that are involved.
- How are parents involved in the setting/school/college? How can I be involved?
We work very closely with families, the Childs voice is very important to us. We send daily messages to ensure you are informed of your child's day. We send out regular newsletters and welcome calls and messages should any issues arise.
