Mentoring and Befriending @ KA

Coronavirus status:

This is one of our most long-running services; wise and caring mentors from The King's Arms have supported hundreds of local young people for over 16 years.

A mentor commits him or herself to listen to the young person, without casting judgement or criticism. At The King's Arms, we passionately believe that every young person has the potential for successful, healthy development and that all youth possess the capacity for positive development. Mentoring therefore provides a space for the young person to make better sense of their situation and explore ways to best overcome their challenges to become the very best they can be.

For many, mentoring is a short-term relationship, possibly lasting for a couple of months. For some, the relationship may be significantly shorter or longer. Some young people meet with their mentor in school, while others meet in other safe spaces, including at The King's Arms youth centre.
