Burghclere Preschool and Toddler Group

All children learn at their own pace. Each key person will plan for the children's individual learning. We have termly parents meeting to discuss their child's developments. Each child has a home to school book which we will in at least twice a week. This develops a link between parents and key people We have an induction plan for new children.

Each child is unique and learn at different paces. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The settings SEN will support the key person in implementing the stages of planning. Your child will have learning plan in place and this will be monitored daily. They will be amended accordingly each term. Any areas that may be of concern will be highlighted and the key person will focus on this area.

Each child has a learning journey book, these hold regular observations of the child. These are accessible for the parent at any time. The setting uses PRAMS to assess the age and stage that the child is at at the end of each term. We do the 2 year old progress check. Parents are encouraged to participate in play and stay sessions

All staff are there to support all children. The key person has a close bond with your child, if that member of staff is away for any reason your child has a buddy that they can go to and they will be looked after by them. We have a complete inclusion policy and all children are treated the same. We have a quiet area if your child needs it.

All staff are NVQ 3 trained. All staff are first aid trained. The SEN will attend regular up date meetings. We have named and pictured labels on all our trolleys. Burghclere work together with Hampshire Services for young children and Children centers.

The settings SEND regularly attends up date meetings. The other staff regularly attend courses that can have any effect on children that have SEND. We have, 5 NVQ 3 status staff, 1 CCLD diploma.

>All children are inclusive to any outings. Depending on the child's needs, the setting will provide a 1 - 1 support for the outing, this will be their key person. We will explain to your child exactly what will be happening stage by stage.

We have a wide ramp that is easily accessible from inside to outside. The inside is all on one level and the areas are equally spaced out. The outside area is concrete and flat.

Contact is made by the new school or setting and we encourage them to make a visit to us to see your child in its settled environment. School visits are made with either the setting or by your self the parent. With the local school we accompany the children on at least 3 visits over a period of time. This is taken place in the last term that they attend.

All areas are at low level and wheelchair accessible. We have a sensory area for children to explore different textures. Special Educational Needs funding is available, this will be discusses with parent and key person on how it can be spent to support your child in their development.

Your child will be observed and then the findings will be discussed with the SEND, this will determine how much support is needed. An Individual Education Plan IEP will be put in place to track your child. Any extra support will be provided.

All parents are required to be involved in their child's development. We hold play and stay sessions for parents, we do encourage these to be attended and so far they have been. You can involve yourself by joining our committee, this is parents involved in the basic running of the setting and all pre schools need this to continue opening.
