- What does your service do?
Our aim is to stimulate the children’s learning with many varied activities, events, outings and resources. Each and every day is varied and can either be adult-led or the children can decide what we do – we do informal planning but if the children think of something better to do then that’s what we do! Within this we cater for the individual children’s needs/development & interests. All children Under 5 attending my setting are monitored and observed in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage & receive a formal Termly Report covering the areas of learning. I also write up a 2 year old development check in time for your child’s appointment with their Health Visitor. Both such reports are shared with parents, plus other childcarers, such as pre-schools and childminders, and other professionals, and any concerns regarding development will be discussed and potential next steps/ways forward to aid development will be discussed. ([https://www.gov.uk/government/policies/improving-the-quality-and-%20range-of-education-and-childcare-from-birth-to-5-years/supporting-pages/early-years-foundation-%20stage https://www.gov.uk/government/policies/improving-the-quality-and- range-of-education-and-childcare-from-birth-to-5-years/supporting-pages/early-years-foundation- stage]) For those children who are new to my provision, I sit down with the parents before they start to discuss and identify all areas of development in a one-to-one meeting at your house. This also gives me a starting point with which to proceed forward in your child’s/baby’s development and the activities/play we do. At the beginning and end of each day there is time for you to talk with me for a brief synopsis of our day and/or your child’s well-being, as well as a chance to share any relevant information. I complete a Daily Diary for each child in my care, which details their day with us, and includes what they have/haven’t eaten/drunk and this goes home to you each day. I also take 100’s of photos each week, which I ‘privately’ share with the parents of all.
- Who does your service provide for?
We look after up to 9 'young' children - Tues - Fri incl - myself and 2 staff members. As well as school age children from Hordle CE School which is just a 2mins walk away.
- How can I start using the service?
OurSend me an email or give me a call - I can send you my Parents Info Pack - with all the details on my setting - [mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org email@example.com]
- Where is it located and what areas does it cover?
We are located in a large house down a private road in Hordle (500 yards from the Infant/Junior school). We go out and about all around our community and further afield.
I can take children from many localities if the parents are able to drop the child/ren off or arrange for transportation.
- How are decisions made about who can use your service?
It would be firstly dependent on what vacancies I have and on what days/times are required as I have a fair amount of part-time children on my books at present. Secondly, it would be dependent on whether my facilities and the care I offer would be appropriate for you and your child.
- How do you communicate with service users and how are they involved in decision making?
I use a daily diary and speak to my parents on a daily basis. I share lots of information via email, as well as a monthly newsletter. I love to share photos of what the children have been doing with us on a weekly basis.
- Is your service fully accessible?
I have steps in to my front door and out in to the garden - these may be made wheelchair accessible with a ramp. There is onsite parking - away from the main road - for 2/3 cars per day.
- What training are the staff supporting children and young people with SEN and Disabilities had or are having?
We are continually updating our training through PACEY and Hampshire's SfYC. I am at present doing an online SEN course through an external provider.
- How will I know my child is safe?
We have many procedures in place to keep all the children safe at all times and these are continually assessed and changed as the needs of the children change. Our garden is child friendly and the playroom is set up to enhance the children's learning and development whilst playing safely.
We do Risk Assessments on a regular basis and as/when needed.
Staff ratios are always 1:3 young children.
