What does your service do?

The service that we provide focuses on outcomes relating to work, apprenticeships or further learning. We focus on things like employability, confidence building, English and Maths, ICT and any other skills that will help an individual in their journey into work.

Who does your service provide for?

For Steps2Employment we provide a service for people who are disabled and unemployed. People need to be in receipt of benefits to be eligible and must be referred by their HDEA. People will be expected to achieve over 16 hours a week in work. For Skills2Achieve people can self-refer to our service. They have to be between the ages of 16-18 years and working towards a Level 2 (GCSE) qualification in English and Maths.

How can I start using the service?

OurYou need to contact our Head Office in Enham Alamein or visit our websites (Trust or Skills2Achieve).

Where is it located and what areas does it cover?

The locations are dependent on the programme. For example, Steps2Employment is a programme that can be accessed by anyone in Hampshire; referred by their Health Disability Employment Adviser (HDEA) at the Job Centre. Skills2Achieve, our programme for 16-18 year olds is delivered in Basingstoke, Farnborough, Andover and Southampton.

How are decisions made about who can use your service?

The programme needs to be suitable and will be discussed at initial interview. For more information, contact our Head Office.

How do you communicate with service users and how are they involved in decision making?

All of our programmes have six monthly participant questionnaires which feed into our quality improvement process. We have a Partnership Board which meets bi-monthly and whose membership includes clients, tenants, learners, staff, volunteers and trustees. It is active in engaging people in issues as diverse as the impact of welfare reforms, the design of our estate development programme and the staff recruitment process. We also provide regular updates and seek feedback via our Facebook page.

Is your service fully accessible?

All of our environments are wheelchair accessible. We don’t have changing facilities.

What training are the staff supporting children and young people with SEN and Disabilities had or are having?

All staff undertake disability awareness training. Many staff have undertaken condition specific training such as mental health awareness and autism training.

How will I know my child is safe?

All of our relevant services are risk assessed, as are any activities that participants undertake. We have a comprehensive safeguarding process and policy. We are inspected by OFSTED and also the provider assurance team from the Department of Work and Pensions for our contracts with them.

Who can I contact for further information?

Greg Bello for Steps2Employment and Kerry Weir (Southampton or Andover) or Nikki Penman-Fea (Farnborough or Basingstoke) for Skills2Achieve.
