New Forest Basics Bank - Food Bank

Offering services to:
  • Young people 16-18
  • Families

The New Forest Basics Bank (NFBB) is an independent Food Bank based out of Lymington. We provide food parcels and poverty alleviation for households in crisis in the southern New Forest. Over 250 volunteers work tirelessly to support our local community. We are 100% reliant on the goodwill and donations of our community. We do not employ any paid staff so we keep our overheads to an absolute minimum and maximise our impact where it is needed most.

Get a Food Parcel

Our food parcels consist of a mixture of store cupboard and fresh food as well as toiletries and other household essentials. They can be tailored to special requirements within reason and all requested items are subject to availability.

To receive a food parcel, clients must get a referral.

Referrals can be arranged by contacting more than 90 organisations including the ones below:

  • Citizen's Advice

  • Christians Against Poverty

  • New Forest District Council

  • Hampshire County Council

  • Social Workers

  • Health Workers

  • Doctors’ surgeries

  • Refuges

  • Churches

  • Schools

If you are having trouble working out which organisation to approach or how to do it, please phone or email us and we will do our best to help you.

The organisation referring you will contact us directly and we will prepare a food parcel to last you and your household for a week. Our food parcels consist of a mixture of store cupboard and fresh food as well as toiletries and other household essentials.

If you have special dietary needs please let the person referring you know and ask them to pass that information on to us.  We will try to tailor your parcel accordingly.

Food parcels are normally prepared on the same day as the referral is received, if it is a weekday, but our last delivery goes out at 2.30 pm so if a referral for a delivered parcel is received after that time it will go out on the next weekday.

Food parcels can be delivered or collected in person from the food bank in Lymington.  Just let the person referring you know whether you prefer collection or delivery and they will tell us when they refer you.

Deliveries are made in unmarked vehicles. Please note that the food parcel consists of several carrier bags and will be quite heavy.
