Step by Steps ?Next Steps? programme includes 6 AQA unit award modules which help young people develop transferable life skills and increase positive community understanding and involvement. Either the full programme can be purchased, or modules purchased individually. Expected learning time for each unit is up to 4 hours. Modules delivered: 1. Youth Identity The student will look at how they view their own identity and what types of identity are important. The student will also look at cohesion and integration and what can be done to promote it. 2. Understanding Diversity The student will gain an understanding of diversity and will look at how language relates to both stereotyping and discrimination as well as how to challenge unacceptable and devaluing language in a positive manner. 3. Peer Education The student will learn about aspects involved in preparing and delivering a presentation to a group of people. They will produce presentation materials and use appropriate equipment to deliver a presentation. 4. Exploring Other Cultures The student will develop an awareness of other culture through preparing a variety of food. 5. Preparing to sign a tenancy The student will learn about different housing options, the details that must be checked when viewing a property and signing a Tenancy agreement. They will also explore community resources concerning independent living. 6. Volunteering and Teamwork The student will reflect upon their own motivations for volunteering and set this within the local context of available volunteering opportunities, readying them to undertake voluntary work.
