- What does your service do?
SENDIASS stands for Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS).
We provide free, confidential and impartial information, advice and support about any education health and care issues affecting children and young people with SEND.
- Who does your service provide for?
We work with children and young people from 0 to 25 who have special educational needs or disabilities and live in Hampshire, and their parents/carers.
We do not provide advice to schools or other professionals although you may find useful information on our webpages.
- How can I start using the service?
The best place to start is our website which has lots of information, resources and guidance for both parents and carers and children and young people.

- Where is it located and what areas does it cover?
We cover the whole of Hampshire. (this does not include Southampton City, Portsmouth City or the Isle of Wight, they have their own SENDIASS services.)
- How are decisions made about who can use your service?
Our information and advice service is available to everyone regardless of whether they/their child have a diagnosis or documented SEND.
Our support service (also known as case work) is for people who are unable to advocate for themselves, this may be because their situation is very complex or they find it hard to communicate.

- How do you communicate with service users and how are they involved in decision making?
Our service is for service users so we communicate directly about their individual queries.
We have a steering group which consists of service users and professional SEND representatives who help to make decisions about our service.
We reach out to service users on a monthly basis through our satisfaction survey which gives us great feedback on what’s going well and what we need to improve.
We communicate with parents through a half-termly newsletter that’s full of the latest local SEND news and updates. You can sign up to receive it here.
- Is your service fully accessible?
We strive to meet the access needs of our service users, examples of this are below. If the service is not accessible for you please tell us and we will do all we can to meet your needs.
- We can provide all our online resources in print, on coloured paper and in a range of sizes
- We have some online resources available in Polish and Nepalese, we will do our best to provide translated resources as needed
- We provide most of our case work support via video conference however if you don’t have access to a computer and need to meet with us in person we can agree a venue that meets your access needs, this can be your home if necessary
- What training are the staff supporting children and young people with SEN and Disabilities had or are having?
All support workers hold an ‘Advanced SEND Law’ qualification.
In addition the team have a range of lived and professional experience, and professional qualifications in: autism, social work, teaching, communication skills, careers advice, school governing and specific conditions.
- How will I know my child is safe?
All SENDIASS staff are recruited following stringent safer recruiting guidance set out by our parent company Core Assets. Staff are fully DBS checked and trained in child safeguarding.
All advice is confidential and we will not share information about a child unless we are concerned for their safety or wellbeing, or they give us permission to share
