Hampshire Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS)

Supporting people with:
  • Parenting / family support
  • Activities for children and young people
  • Education, training and development
  • Emotional and mental health including CAMHS
  • Teenage pregnancy and young parents

EMTAS is part of Children's Services (education). We work with schools to support children of minority ethnic and Traveller heritages to achieve better educational outcomes.

Our staff comprises:

* Bilingual Assistants who offer bilingual support to children and their families in a range of languages;

* Traveller Support Workers who support children from Gypsy, Traveller, Roma, Showmen and Boater backgrounds to access and engage with education;

* Specialist Teacher Advisors who work with staff in schools to improve the progress and attainment of children from all minority ethnic and Traveller groups, including those for whom English is an Additional Language.

Details
Maintained schools have an SLA with us and can access a range of services for free as detailed in the SLA. They can also buy in additional services which are not included in the SLA. We charge for services to Special Schools, Private Schools, Academies, Education Centres, other Services, external agencies and Pre-Schools
