Hampshire Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS)
EMTAS is part of Children's Services (education). We work with schools to support children of ethnic minority and Traveller heritages to achieve better educational outcomes.
Our staff comprises a team of Bilingual Assistants who offer bilingual support to children and their families in a range of languages. Traveller Teaching Assistants who support children from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller backgrounds to access and engage with education. Traveller Education Officers who mainly work on admissions and attendance issues, a Traveller Education Adviser who collaborates on projects with educational establishments, and Specialist Teacher Advisers who work with schools to improve the achievement and attainment of children from all BME and GRT groups.
