Weekly youth club for young people with additional needs from the ages of 10-25 years .

Young people may attend with their support worker or depending upon needs may attend on their own.  Individual risk assessments may be required.

It is £3.00 to access the group if you have a Hampshire County Council "Gateway+" card. Otherwise it is £4.50 to attend each session.

We provide a youth club for young people with SEN as part of the Hampshire Gateway Card scheme.

What does your service do?

We run youth work sessions on a Wednesday evening for young people aged 10-25; delivering activities on a weekly basis that young people can engage in such as cooking/ craft/ quizzes/ games.

Where is it located and what areas does it cover?

The youth club is located at The Genesis Centre, Centre Way, Locks Heath. We accept young people from any area, although predominantly our young people are from Fareham and Gosport. 

How are decisions made about who can use your service?

The decisions about who can access the group are made by the lead worker.

How do you communicate with service users and how are they involved in decision making?

Young people are given the opportunity at the end of each term to be involved in the planning of what they would like to do for the next term's activities. 

Is your service fully accessible?

We have level access with wheelchair access and an accessible toilet. 

What training are the staff supporting children and young people with SEN and Disabilities had or are having?

The lead worker is a qualified Social Worker, who also has a JNC professional qualification in Youth and Community Learning and Development. The lead worker has run the SEN group for over 12 years and has also worked professionally as a Social Worker in the Children with Disabilities team. The lead worker has had training in Social Stories, Makaton, and has completed Safeguarding and First Aid training. 

How will I know my child is safe?

Each young person is treated as an individual, and their needs will be discussed prior to them joining the group. Young people who have specific needs or medical needs, may need to have a carer to meet these; this would all be discussed with parents and carers prior to any young person accessing the provision.
