Our Child, Young People and Family Support Co-ordinator, Nicky Wilmot, can offer advice, information and guidance on a variety of family matters regardless of which family member has sight loss.
Nicky can advise you on the correct benefit(s) you and your family are entitled to; whether it is Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and/or the Carer's Allowance. Nicky can help you with the completion of the benefit application form in several ways; via telephone call, email, video call or with a home visit. She can support families to apply for grant funding to help cover the cost of equipment or to have a holiday. She can also signpost you to other organisations that offer a variety of activities and holiday schemes which can specifically meet the needs of individuals and their families.
Open Sight Hampshire organises information events throughout the year which can support Children, Young People and their Families, a Family Fun Event is organised twice a year to bring together families from across the county.
We send regular newsletters to all of our families and have a closed Facebook group for families in Hampshire who are experiencing sight loss. On it you will find useful information and activities. It is a respectful and helpful information hub where you can chat with other families and communicate with us. We would encourage you to join our closed Facebook group by following this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/1976610119025916/?ref=share
