Treloar School and Treloar College

Treloar School has gained external accreditation for its parent/carer involvement through the Leading Parent Partnership Award.  Communications are a high priority and include parent/carer training and support programmes, nominated contacts, access to online information on student's progress, drop-in sessions, home-school books and parent/carer days.  Each young person is supported by a dedicated multi-disciplinary team including key workers and lead tutors.  Communication is also supported by a large team of specialised Speech and Language Therapists and an in-house Assistive Technology Team.

We provide specialist education, therapy and care for physically disabled children and young people, aged 2 to 25 years. Our curriculum is bespoke and we are able to offer students the opportunity to work at all levels from Pre-Entry Level to Level 3 (A-level/Level 3 BTEC). We also have a range of excellent work-based learning opportunities.

At Treloar’s, every student is supported by a Multi-Disciplinary Team of professionals who create an individual holistic programme that integrates education, independence training, therapy, care and other support.  Each student’s programme is broken down into aims, objectives and targets, which are all recorded on our online student record system.

In addition to the normal system of annual reports and reviews, we are able to provide real time information on a young person’s curriculum progress and achievements to parents and carers through the use of our Virtual Learning Environment.  We encourage parents and carers to get involved in a young person’s education where appropriate.  Our BELONG family support group, in conjunction with our Parents’ Association, also offers training and information days.

A full programme of mandatory training is in place for all staff covering all the essential skills for their roles.  Teaching staff are all fully qualified and hold a range of specialist qualifications.  All our care and class support staff have an appropriate Level 3 qualification or are working towards achieving this.  There is an extensive programme of specialist qualifications and training available which enables all staff to be more effective in working in our student-focused multi-disciplinary way.

Treloar School and College are located on a single purpose-built campus at Holybourne close to the thriving market town of Alton, Hampshire.

The campus is fully accessible with state-of-the-art facilities including: specialist classrooms, enterprise and life skills centres, specialist art and photography rooms, a technology hub, drama hall, well-equipped therapy suites, hydrotherapy pool, and a fully equipped health centre.  In addition, there are residential houses offering a home-from-home feel and first-class care, as well as sports facilities for a wide range of accessible sports including swimming, wheelchair racing and Boccia.

We work closely with feeder schools and families to ensure that children and young people are supported fully in their move to Treloar’s.  The development of independence skills and achievement of placement goals are a key priority for our students.  As students approach transition points, both within Treloar’s and as they prepare to leave us, our Transition Team works closely to ensure the success of their next steps in life.
