Notes

Mosac is a voluntary organisation supporting all non abusing parents and carers whose
children have been sexually abused, to provide support, advice, information, Advocacy and
counselling following the discovery of sexual abuse.

Mosac seeks to enable parents/carers to rebuild confidence, alleviate isolation and to assist
parents / carers and their children achieve an improved quality of life.
Key service areas include:

National Telephone Helpline – Staffed by trained female volunteers to offer support, advice and
information to all non-abusing parents/ carers and to other agencies.
020 8293 9990 (Charged calls), 0800 980 1958 (Free)
(Please use the freephone number if you cannot afford to pay for your calls)

Client Counselling – Volunteer counsellors provide an individual professional client
counselling service. Within a hours radius of our office address in South East London

Parenting Workshops – Mosac offers a range of workshops to in a able parents to safe
guard children and deal with the consequences of childhood sexual abuse. The workshops
help the parents to aid their child’s healing and rebuild confidence.

Child Centred Play Therapy - We have a small budget to provide play therapy to a child
whose parent is already being supported by us. Play therapy is a holistic approach, using play
and art as a means of ‘helping’ the physical, spiritual, emotional and cognitive aspects, both
conscious and unconscious, taking account of the past, present and future of the whole child.

Advocacy and Specialist Advice Service - Mosac offers practical support to carers who
are dealing with external agencies such as (but not exclusively) social services, the courts,
housing offices and the police. Our advocates can attend meetings with clients; help them
with paperwork and bureaucracy where necessary.

Our information service - includes a wide range of leaflets, books, videos, audiotapes and
a National database of other agencies and services for referral when necessary. This is
helpful to families and agencies working with families affected by child sexual abuse.
