Earlybirds Pre-School

We are an independent pre-school managed by a voluntary committee, open to all children from two years until they start school.  We are committed to providing a warm, welcoming and caring pre-school environment where children are secure, happy and able to flourish. The pre-school is based in Newtown, Hampshire, on the same site as Newtown Soberton Infant School and we are happy to work in close partnership together. This enables us to offer an excellent transition programme for children transferring to Newtown Soberton Infant School, including regular visits, use of facilities and shared activities and playtimes with the Reception Year class.

Our facilities include a large indoor room with carpet and hard flooring areas, sink and creative area. Bespoke toilets are within easy reach of the children. We also benefit from an enclosed outdoor area, which is easily accessible and used daily. We also have regular access to the school hall, playground and play equipment which we use for games, sports and physical activity.

Earlybirds pre-school is managed by a committee which is made up of parents, staff and volunteers. Regular meetings are held to discuss and agree all aspects of the running of the pre-school.  Parents are always welcome to join the pre-school committee. It is an excellent forum for sharing ideas and experiences to allow improvements to be made and enables the pre-school to work in close partnership with the parents.

At Earlybirds Pre School it is our aim for every child to feel valued and cared for. Staff are dedicated to each child’s individual needs and help them grow in confidence whilst developing independence and a sense of responsibility. Staff will model and support the development of values such as tolerance and respect to enable children to nurture and care for each other and the world we live in.

We are committed to working in close partnership with parents and supporting them as the first and primary educator of their child. We are also committed to working in partnership with other professionals and organisations, including making the most of the close links we have with Newtown Soberton Infant School.

We aim to provide irresistible opportunities that create a thirst for learning. This is achieved through a carefully planned curriculum and environment tailored to children’s needs and interests, informed by careful observation of what each child knows, can do and is interested in. Learning through play is fundamental to our ethos, as is providing opportunities for children to follow their own interests and develop the characteristics of effective learning.

We want our children to thrive and develop a “can-do” attitude and believe that anything is possible. To develop children’s resilience and promote a growth mind-set, we are dedicated to celebrating and praising effort and hard work, rather than achievement or outcome.
