Breakout delivers classroom based sessions exploring LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender) issues, or tackling homophobia. Breakout can provide support to LGBT pupils and support to schools in tackling homophobia and transphobia in line with Ofsted guidelines
Exploring the school's actions to prevent and tackle homophobic and transphobic bullying.
Classroom-based sessions are designed to explore issues of sexuality and gender in age appropriate ways, looking at myths and stereotypes and challenging the use of homophobic language such as the casual use of "gay" as an insult.
Breakout can also provide small group or one to one sessions with children and young people who are experiencing homophobia or are confused about their gender.
LGBT young people can be very vulnerable to poor emotional wellbeing and at risk through bullying, hate crime and child sexual exploitation. Breakout Youth workers are highly skilled and are trained to a high standard in order to provide safe, confidential advice and support to LGBT young people.
Breakout also runs youth groups, in Basingstoke, Eastleigh, Southampton and East Cowes, providing a safe and accessible environment for young people to meet and socialise. It works with the young people to provide a programme of activities and events to enable them to have fun and make informed choices about their lives.
