- How does the setting/school/college know if children/young people need extra help and what should I do if I think my child/young person may have special educational needs?
I undertake regular reviews of children's learning and development, including two annual reviews or 'parents evenings' . If I think a child needs extra support I will undertake more frequent assessment of the child to monitor their development. I will discuss this information with parents and discuss ways to go forward to best help. It is my aim to have excellent parent/childminder relationships so I am always available to chat and discuss any concerns or if parents think their child needs extra support.
- How will early years setting/school/college staff support my child/young person?
I would support your child by setting out individual plans based on their needs and I would seek guidance from local area sencos to ensure that we have the best knowledge in how to support your child.
- How will the curriculum be matched to my child's/young person's needs?
Each child will have an individual education plan that will have specific targeted ideas on how to support your child.
- How will both you and I know how my child/young person is doing and how will you help me to support my child's/young person's learning?
Children who require extra support will have a half termly review every 6 weeks to monitor their progress , during this time we can discuss progress and ideas and support for home.
- What support will there be for my child's/young person's overall well being?
As the only carer I will be there to support your child throughout thier time with me.
- What specialist services and expertise are avaliable at or accessed by the setting/school/college?
This will depend on your child's needs.
- What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had? Are any being trained currently?
I undertake regular training and attend the Hampshire County Council Senco webinars each term.
- How will my child/young person be included in activities outside this classroom including school trips?
This would depend on your child's needs, however I would aim to incorporate your child into our usual outings and setting life.
- How accessible is the setting/school/college enviroment?
The setting is my home and we use the ground floor area which is all on one level. If any special equipment is needed this would be discussed on an individual basis to best suit your child.
- How will the setting/school/college prepare and support my child/young person to join the setting/school/college or the next stage of education and life?
I will work with you to transition to nursery or school.
- How are the setting's/school's/college's resources allocated and matched to children's/young people's special educational needs?
This would vary depending on each child's need's.
- How is the decision made about what type and how much support my child/young person will receive?
This is dependent on each child's needs.
- How are parents involved in the setting/school/college? How can I be involved?
I aim to work with families to best support you and your child.
