What does your service do?

Down to Earth Community Farm offers a programme of activities for people with mild to moderate learning disabilities. We aim to create a supportive environment where people can gain new life skills and participate in real work opportunities. Our site is made up of 5 acres of grounds including a small farm, woodland area, pond, grassland habitats, gardens, and a fully equipped building suitable for a range of indoor activities. Our programme of activities is designed to offer each individual the opportunity to: * Learn transferrable life skills * Explore new work skills * Gain a greater awareness of the environment * Enhance their physical abilities * Gain confidence and independence * Develop their social skills and build relationships * Improve concentration and attention skills

Where is it located and what areas does it cover?

The farm is located on Green Lane in Millbrook at the heart of Southampton city.

How are decisions made about who can use your service?

Decisions are made by meeting with the Clients.

How do you communicate with service users and how are they involved in decision making?

We generally run group sessions and will give options as to which activities to get involved with, we allow for verbal and more physical responses in this process. We make time and space for our service users who are maybe struggling with something and will try to accommodate/explain where possible.

Is your service fully accessible?

We are a farm and so therefore paths can be muddy and uneven, however we do have concrete and tarmac paths and a disabled toilet.

What training are the staff supporting children and young people with SEN and Disabilities had or are having?

Our staff team have a wide skill set coupled with the 5 years of experience providing this provision. We believe we are well placed to offer a good supportive and safe environment.

How will I know my child is safe?

Our staff and volunteers are all CBS checked and first aid trained, our staff are also fire trained and we hold risk assessments for all activities and tools to make sure the farm is as safe as it can be.
